Automotive News wins two Neal Awards
March 2011 —Automotive News earned two Jesse H. Neal Awards, the industry’s biggest journalism honor, at the annual American Business Media event on March 10.
Winning best story was Amy Wilson's December 14, 2009 look into the Ford dealership consolidation in the Buffalo, N.Y. area.
The second award was for best single issue. The Sept. 13, 2010 winning issue was led by the "100 Leading Women of the North American Auto Industry" section. Mary Beth VanderSchaaf supervised this project, and practically everybody on the editorial team did profiles or otherwise contributed. The issue also included a story by Lindsay Chappell, Diana Kurylko, Donna Harris, Jamie LaReau, Mark Rechtin, Arlena Sawyers, Brad Wernle, Amy Wilson and Dave Guilford on how the 2008 crisis reshaped used cars.
Crain Communications was well represented at the ceremony by 11 finalists from five different brands: Advertising Age, Automotive News, Crain's New York Business, Modern Healthcare and Workforce Management.
